FSC Certification and What It Means

In a world where being sustainable is more important than ever, we wanted to talk about FSC certification and what that means. Our forests provide us with so many materials that we use everyday, and it is vital we look after them!

FSC stands for The Forest Stewardship Council, which is an ‘international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.’

The FSC website states that ‘The FSC system allows businesses and consumers to identify, purchase and use wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources.’

By being FSC certified, the supplier has met the 10 principles laid out by The FSC. These include complying with laws and looking after their workers and indigenous peoples. Take a closer look at the principles here https://www.fsc-uk.org//en-uk/about-fsc/what-is-fsc/fsc-principles

You can identify a product which is certified if it has the FSC logo, the ‘Tick Tree’. Seeing this label assures you that you can buy with confidence, knowing you are helping to protect our forests, ensuring their survival for generations to come.

At Stuart Jones, we are committed to being more sustainable and many of our products use FSC certified wood and we recently, successfully extended FSC certification for W12 Indoor furniture until October 2023: Certificate number; TT-COC-004640
